TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's lacrosse team looks to move to 2-0 in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) competition on Saturday, March 22, hosting Stony Brook at Unitas at noon.

Each team played an overtime game to begin league play this past Saturday. Towson defeated Delaware 19-18 in overtime at home to go to 2-5 overall and 1-0 in the CAA. Stony Brook fell at Hofstra 13-12 in double overtime to stand at 4-4 overall and 0-1 in the CAA.
This is the sixth all-time meeting between Towson and Stony Brook, with the previous four games each being decided by one goal. Towson won 9-8 at home on Mar. 30, 2024 to lead the all-time series 3-2. The two have played twice as CAA opponents, with Stony Brook winning on Long Island 13-12 on Apr. 1, 2023.

WEISSHAAR - USA LACROSSE PRESEASON MIDFIELDER OF THE YEAR
Mikey Weisshaar was honored as the USA Lacrosse Preseason Midfielder of the Year. He adds this honor along with being named a Preseason First Team All-American by each USA Lacrosse and
Inside Lacrosse.
The junior midfielder was Towson's leading goal-scorer last year with 42, adding 19 assists. He earned at least a hat trick in eight games in 2024.
12 STRAIGHT CAA REGULAR SEASON WINS
Towson has been dominant in league play, winning the last 12 regular season CAA games dating back to the 2023 season. This includes a 7-0 undefeated run in 2024.
TOWSON - 2024 CAA TOURNAMENT CHAMPION
With one of the most dominant performances in league history, Towson won its ninth CAA Tournament title to earn a spot into the NCAA Tournament in 2024.
Towson also was the CAA regular season champion, going 7-0 in league play. It is the first time Towson has earned an undefeated CAA season since 2004 when the Tigers finished 5-0. Towson notched the first undefeated CAA regular season since UMass was 6-0 in 2018.

Towson played a very tough non-conference schedule, having played three teams currently ranked in the top-20 in (chronological order) Johns Hopkins (11-USILA, 11-IL Media), Syracuse (10/10) and Saint Joseph's (18/19). Mikey Weisshaar USA Lacrosse Men's DI Player of the Week on Mar. 18.
His sixth goal was the game-winner in overtime vs. the Blue Hens. He also earned USILA DI Team of the Week and CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
ROLLIN' ROLLIN' RONAN
Ronan Fitzpatrick, who played just one game last season, stands as Towson's leading goal-scorer in the young season with 21, adding four assists.
He is already a three-time CAA Rookie of the Week, including after scoring six goals, including the game-tying goal with 29 seconds left in regulation, in the victory vs. Delaware.
MATT CONSTANTINIDES - TOWSON ALL-TIME FACEOFF WINS LEADER
Towson's primary faceoff man all four years with Towson, senior
Matt Constantinides is the program's all-time faceoff wins leader with 615 faceoff wins. This includes two seasons with at least 200 faceoff victories: 207 in 2023 and 205 in 2024.
Constantinides surpassed Alex Woodall, who had 583 wins from 2017-19, with his 11th faceoff win at Navy on Feb. 16, 2025.
He is also second in Towson history in ground balls, currently standing with 325. Woodall is the Towson all-time leader in ground balls with 351.
CARL RUNK (1936-2024)
Legendary Towson men's lacrosse head coach Carl Runk passed away on Nov. 24, 2024 at the age of 88.
The leader of Towson men's lacrosse for 31 years from 1962-1992, he led the Tigers to 262 victories, the 1974 NCAA Division II National Championship and the 1991 Division I national title game.
He is a member of several Halls of Fame: the Towson Athletics Hall of Fame (2007), the University of Arizona Men's Lacrosse Hall of Fame (2019), the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association Hall of Fame (2018 and the Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame (2022).

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
Stony Brook has been a member of the CAA since the 2023 season.
Through eight games, Stony Brook has three players with double digit goals, led by junior attack Carson Boyle with 11, including five man-up scores. Sophomore attack Justin Bonacci is the leading scorer, having tallied up 10 goals and six assists while freshman midfielder Caleb Yeung has 10 goals.
Senior Jamison MacLachlan has started all eight games in the cage, saving 60.2% with a 8.47 goals allowed average. Classmate defenseman Riley Hegarty is the team's leader in caused turnovers with 10, adding 22 ground balls.
The Seawolves rely mainly on two players for a team which has won 52.9% of faceoffs. Junior Robbie Smith has a 53.9% faceoff win rate while sophomore Chris Esposito has won 51.5%.

NADELEN NAMED HEAD COACH OF U20 MEN'S NATIONAL TEAM
Towson head coach
Shawn Nadelen has been selected as the head coach of the United States Men's U20 National Team. Nadelen will prepare the U.S. U20 Team for the upcoming 2025 World Lacrosse Men's U20 Championship in South Korea.
He was part of the U.S. Senior National Team which won the gold medal in the 2010 FIL World Lacrosse Championships in England with a 12-10 victory over Canada in the title game.
Nadelen becomes the second Towson men's lacrosse head coach to lead one of the U.S. National Teams. Tony Seaman, Towson head coach from 1999 to 2011, was the head coach of the U.S. Men's Senior National Team for the 1994 World Lacrosse Championship.

Four Towson home games will be on Monumental Sports Network this season. The home of the Washington Capitals, Mystics and Wizards, Monumental Sports Network is based out of Bethesda and is aired across the DMV, spanning from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina.
