Towson Gymnastics Wins Fifth Straight Meet with Season-High Team Score

TOWSON, Md. – In an extremely competitive meet with three teams earning at least a team score of 196, the Towson University gymnastics earned its fifth-straight meet victory with a 196.400 team score, its highest of the season.
 
Towson defeated three other teams ranked in the top-50 of the Road to Nationals rankings: Penn (196.200), West Virginia (196.125) and George Washington (195.800).  Towson's previous top team score of the year came in its last home meet with a 196.075 in a dual meet win vs. Ball State on Feb. 21.
 
The Tigers set several new career and season-highs and won two individual events as Isabella DeCroo took the vault crown with a 9.925 and Isabella Minervini taking the bars victory at 9.900.
 
How it Happened for Towson (in Rotation Order)
  • Vault – 49.125
  • Bars – 48.950
    • Towson began the rotation with three 9.8+ scores on the first four athletes, led off by Lauren Keener at 9.850.
    • Needing a big score at the end, Isabella Minervini came through with a 9.900.
  • Beam – 49.275
  • Floor – 49.050
    • Needing strong scores to hold off the opponents, Carmella Calafati got Towson's started on a 9.750.  DeCroo, in the third spot, tied a season-high on a 9.825.
    • Clara Hong and Adriana Hoffman each finished up with a 9.875 to solidify the victory.
Inside the Numbers
  • Towson earned two rotation scores tonight which will stand in the top-10 in Towson history.  Towson's 49.275 on beam is sixth all-time in program history while the 49.125 on vault is ninth in Towson history.
  • Lauren Keener surpassed the career 1,000-point mark after her bars routine.
  • Isabella Minervini has earned at least a 9.9 on the bars six times this year, including in her last four meets.
  • Isabella DeCroo's former top mark on the vault was a 9.825, previously set on March 2 at LIU.
  • Four Tigers got a 9.950 from at least one judge: Isabella DeCroo on vault, Isabella Minervini on bars, Lauren Keener on beam and Adriana Hoffman on floor.
