BOX SCORE Towson, Md. - The Towson University tennis team has clinched another conference matchup at Coppermine Bare Hills on Saturday, this time against CAA foe Drexel. The Tigers secured a 4-3 win.
Drexel secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. In singles play,
Gaia Montecchi and
Ashira Murray responded with straight set wins at No. 4 and No. 5. At the top spot,
Kiersten Tambe showed resilience after dropping the first set 6-0, rallying to win the next two sets 6-4, 6-4.
"This was a really good win in another three-plus hour battle," said head coach
Jamie Peterson. "The win was led by an incredible comeback from
Kiersten Tambe after losing the first set 6-0.
Gaia Montecchi clinched the match with a long 7-6, 6-4 straight-set battle."
