TOWSON, Md. – Following the Towson University men's lacrosse team's victory over then-No. 15 Fairfield, two Tigers were honored with Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) weekly awards.
Mikey Weisshaar was selected as the CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week while
Joe Petro is the CAA Defensive Player of the Week.
Weisshaar is honored with a weekly award from the CAA for the fourth time this year while Petro picks up his first-ever league weekly award.
The weekly awards come after Towson defeated Fairfield 14-9 for the squad's seventh straight victory and the outright CAA regular season title. Towson secured hosting rights for the upcoming CAA Tournament on May 1 and 3.
Weisshaar led all players in the Towson-Fairfield game with six points off four goals and two assists, his fifth 4+ goal game of the season. He secured a hat trick in the first quarter and had at least one point in each quarter of play.
Petro helped anchor a Towson defense that allowed just nine goals to Fairfield, the second-lowest amount by the Stags this year. He earned the team's first five-caused turnover game since 2018, adding six ground balls.
The Tigers head to Long Island to take on Hofstra on Saturday, April 26 at 4 p.m.
