HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The No. 16/15 Towson University men's lacrosse team is going for its second consecutive perfect CAA regular season with a trip to Long Island to play at Hofstra on Saturday, April 26 at 4 p.m.
 
The game will be broadcast online on FloCollege, with Conner Keough and Cameron Campbell on the call.  The game will also be broadcast via audio on towsontigers.com with Spiro Morekas live from James M. Shuart Stadium.
 
Towson has won seven straight games after defeating then-No. 15 Fairfield 14-9 on Saturday to win the CAA regular season title and stand at 8-5 overall and 6-0 in the CAA.  Hofstra, which is also locked into the CAA Tournament field, is also 8-5 overall after defeating Hampton 27-4 on Saturday, being 4-2 in the league.
 
Towson has returned to the national rankings, standing at #16 in the USILA Coaches Poll and #15 in the Inside Lacrosse media poll.
 
This is the 55th all-time meeting between the two teams with Hofstra having a 29-26 all-time lead.  Towson has won the last two meetings, including a 15-11 victory at Unitas on Apr. 6, 2024.
 
Towson, Hofstra, Drexel and Fairfield will all come to Unitas next week for the 2025 CAA Tournament.
 
WEISSHAAR - 2025 TEWAARATON TROPHY NOMINEE
On April 17, Mikey Weisshaar was selected as one of 25 players across the country as a Tewaaraton Trophy nominee.  He is the first Towson player to be a nominee since Zach Goodrich and Alex Woodall in 2019.
 
In late March, Weisshaar was selected as an Inside Lacrosse Media Midseason Second Team All-American, his second straight year receiving that honor.  He also stands in the top-10 in Towson history in career goals with 93.
 
WEISSHAAR - USA LACROSSE PRESEASON MIDFIELDER OF THE YEAR
Mikey Weisshaar was honored as the USA Lacrosse Preseason Midfielder of the Year.  He adds this honor along with being named a Preseason First Team All-American by each USA Lacrosse and Inside Lacrosse.
 
The junior midfielder was Towson's leading goal-scorer last year with 42, adding 19 assists.  He earned at least a hat trick in eight games in 2024.
 
17 STRAIGHT CAA REGULAR SEASON WINS
Towson has been dominant in league play, winning the last 17 regular season CAA games dating back to the 2023 season.  This includes the team's 6-0 run for the 2025 CAA regular season title and a 7-0 undefeated league record in 2024.

In the preseason coaches poll, Towson has been predicted to finish first in the CAA in 2025.  Towson received six first-place votes for 48 points, followed by Delaware with two first-place votes and 44 points.

Towson has been strong this season in golden goal games, being 3-0 in overtime games this year.  Coming into 2025, the Tigers had lost their last four overtime games dating back the previous three seasons.

WEISSHAAR - USA LACROSSE MEN'S DI PLAYER OF THE WEEK
A six-goal performance in Towson's victory vs. Delaware earned Mikey Weisshaar USA Lacrosse Men's DI Player of the Week on Mar. 18.
 
His sixth goal was the game-winner in overtime vs. the Blue Hens.  He also earned USILA DI Team of the Week and CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
 
ROLLIN' ROLLIN' RONAN
Ronan Fitzpatrick, who played just one game last season, stands as Towson's second-leading goal-scorer in the season with 30, adding eight assists.
 
He is a three-time CAA Rookie of the Week, including after scoring six goals, including the game-tying goal with 29 seconds left in regulation, in the victory vs. Delaware.
 
MATT CONSTANTINIDES - TOWSON ALL-TIME FACEOFF WINS LEADER
Towson's primary faceoff man all four years with Towson, senior Matt Constantinides is the program's all-time faceoff wins leader with 674 faceoff wins.  This includes two seasons with at least 200 faceoff victories: 207 in 2023 and 205 in 2024.
 
Constantinides surpassed Alex Woodall, who had 583 wins from 2017-19, with his 11th faceoff win at Navy on Feb. 16, 2025.
 
He is also second in Towson history in ground balls, currently standing with 347.  Woodall is the Towson all-time leader in ground balls with 351.
 
CARL RUNK (1936-2024)
Legendary Towson men's lacrosse head coach Carl Runk passed away on Nov. 24, 2024 at the age of 88. 
 
The leader of Towson men's lacrosse for 31 years from 1962-1992, he led the Tigers to 262 victories, the 1974 NCAA Division II National Championship and the 1991 Division I national title game. 
 
He is a member of several Halls of Fame: the Towson Athletics Hall of Fame (2007), the University of Arizona Men's Lacrosse Hall of Fame (2019), the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association Hall of Fame (2018 and the Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame (2022).

In the first 13 games of the season, Towson has had eight different starting lineups, including five different players starting at attack and six starting on the first midfield line. 
 
By contrast, Towson had the same starting lineup in 14 of its 16 games in 2024.

Hofstra's eight wins ties the most amount in a season for the Pride since 2017.
 
The Pride sport four players with at least 25 goals.   True freshman Drew Bogardus is the team's leading goal-scorer with 30, adding 11 assists.  Junior Anthony Mollica is the leading assistant with 22, adding 25 goals for 47 points.
 
A redshirt freshman, Shea Kennedy, anchors the defense in goal, having a 10.52 goals allowed average and 54% save rate.  Redshirt sophomore Henry Troy is the team's leader in caused turnovers with 14, adding 17 ground balls.
 
Hofstra has played two players with over 120 taken faceoffs.  The primary man is redshirt sophomore Cole Myers, who has won 45.9% with 41 ground balls.

NADELEN NAMED HEAD COACH OF U20 MEN'S NATIONAL TEAM
Towson head coach Shawn Nadelen has been selected as the head coach of the United States Men's U20 National Team.  Nadelen will prepare the U.S. U20 Team for the upcoming 2025 World Lacrosse Men's U20 Championship in South Korea.
 
He was part of the U.S. Senior National Team which won the gold medal in the 2010 FIL World Lacrosse Championships in England with a 12-10 victory over Canada in the title game.
 
Nadelen becomes the second Towson men's lacrosse head coach to lead one of the U.S. National Teams.  Tony Seaman, Towson head coach from 1999 to 2011, was the head coach of the U.S. Men's Senior National Team for the 1994 World Lacrosse Championship.
 
TV TIME
Four Towson home games will be on Monumental Sports Network this season.  The home of the Washington Capitals, Mystics and Wizards, Monumental Sports Network is based out of Bethesda and is aired across the DMV, spanning from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina.
