TOWSON, Md. – Two Towson University players will get their chance to prove themselves with National Football League (NFL) teams.
Carter Runyon signed as an undrafted free agent (UDFA) with the Las Vegas Raiders while
Nchabanu Fortaboh picked up a mini camp invite with the Baltimore Ravens.
Both were announced on Saturday, April 26 after the conclusion of the NFL Draft. All players who declared but were not drafted are eligible for free agent signing or invites to camp.
This is the second straight season where Towson has had a UDFA into the NFL, with Robert Javier signing with the Tennessee Titans in 2024.
Runyon, a redshirt senior from Fairfax, Virginia, spent the last two years with Towson, earning All-America recognition each year by the
Associated Press and STATS Perform. The two-time All-Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) tight end was Towson's leader in receptions each of the last two seasons, tallying up 88 catches, 1,051 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns in his two years with the Black & Gold. Following the 2024 season, he played in each the prestigious Hula Bowl and East-West Shrine Bowl.
After transferring to Towson from Virginia University of Lynchburg, Fortaboh, a redshirt junior from Germantown, Md., played 11 games on the defense line for the Tigers this season, being the team leader in sacks with 6.5 and tackles for loss with nine, also having 33 tackles and a forced fumble. He recorded at least one tackle for loss in seven games in 2024.
Several other Tigers will look to join NFL teams in the following weeks via undrafted free agency or mini-camp invites.
