TOWSON, Md. – The Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) men's lacrosse title game is on as the No. 15/14 and 1-seed Towson University hosts 3-seed Drexel on Saturday, May 3 at 12 p.m. noon (new time due to expected inclement weather).  The winner wins the CAA championship and earns an automatic qualifier into the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

The game will be broadcast online on LacrosseTV and FloCollege, with JJ Duke and Marcus Holman on the call.  The game will also be broadcast via audio on towsontigers.com with Spiro Morekas and Glenn Smith live from Johnny Unitas® Stadium.
 
Towson advanced to the CAA title game with an 11-10 overtime win vs. 4-seed to Hofstra to be 10-5 overall and 7-0 in the CAA.  Drexel knocked off 2-seed Fairfield 14-6 to reach the CAA title game at 8-7 overall and 4-3 in the CAA.
 
Towson stands at #15 in the USILA Coaches Poll and #14 in the Inside Lacrosse media poll.  Drexel is not ranked in either poll.
 
In the regular season, Towson defeated Drexel 12-8 on March 29 in Philadelphia.  It was the third straight win for Towson, which leads the all-time series 50-13, over Drexel.  The two met in the 2024 CAA semifinal round, with Towson winning 18-8 at Unitas.  All-time in the CAA Tournament, Towson is 8-1 vs. Drexel, with just one CAA title game in that record: 2-seed Towson defeated 4-seed Drexel 16-14 in the 2019 CAA championship game in Amherst, Massachusetts.
 
WEISSHAAR - 2025 TEWAARATON TROPHY NOMINEE
On April 17, Mikey Weisshaar was selected as one of 25 players across the country as a Tewaaraton Trophy nominee.  He is the first Towson player to be a nominee since Zach Goodrich and Alex Woodall in 2019.
 
In late March, Weisshaar was selected as an Inside Lacrosse Media Midseason Second Team All-American, his second straight year receiving that honor, and he was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Year.  He also stands eighth in Towson history in career goals with 102.
 
WEISSHAAR - USA LACROSSE PRESEASON MIDFIELDER OF THE YEAR
Mikey Weisshaar was honored as the USA Lacrosse Preseason Midfielder of the Year.  He adds this honor along with being named a Preseason First Team All-American by each USA Lacrosse and Inside Lacrosse.
 
The junior midfielder was Towson's leading goal-scorer last year with 42, adding 19 assists.  He earned at least a hat trick in eight games in 2024.
 
18 STRAIGHT CAA REGULAR SEASON WINS
Towson has been dominant in league play, winning the last 18 regular season CAA games dating back to the 2023 season.  This includes 7-0 undefeated CAA regular season records in each 2024 and 2025.

WEISSHAAR - USA LACROSSE MEN'S DI PLAYER OF THE WEEK
A six-goal performance in Towson's victory vs. Delaware earned Mikey Weisshaar USA Lacrosse Men's DI Player of the Week on Mar. 18.
 
His sixth goal was the game-winner in overtime vs. the Blue Hens.  He also earned USILA DI Team of the Week and CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
 
ROLLIN' ROLLIN' RONAN
Ronan Fitzpatrick, who played just one game last season, stands as Towson's second-leading goal-scorer in the season with 34, adding 11 assists.
 
The CAA Rookie of the Year is a four-time CAA Rookie of the Week, including after scoring six goals, including the game-tying goal with 29 seconds left in regulation, in the victory vs. Delaware.
 
MATT CONSTANTINIDES - TOWSON ALL-TIME FACEOFF WINS, GROUND BALLS LEADER
Towson's primary faceoff man all four years with Towson, senior Matt Constantinides is the program's all-time faceoff wins leader with 687 faceoff wins.  This includes two seasons with at least 200 faceoff victories: 207 in 2023 and 205 in 2024.
 
Constantinides surpassed Alex Woodall, who had 583 wins from 2017-19, with his 11th faceoff win at Navy on Feb. 16, 2025.
 
He is also first in Towson history in ground balls, currently standing with 353, setting the new record on May 1.  Woodall was the Towson all-time leader in ground balls with 351.
 
CARL RUNK (1936-2024)
Legendary Towson men's lacrosse head coach Carl Runk passed away on Nov. 24, 2024 at the age of 88. 
 
The leader of Towson men's lacrosse for 31 years from 1962-1992, he led the Tigers to 262 victories, the 1974 NCAA Division II National Championship and the 1991 Division I national title game. 
 
He is a member of several Halls of Fame: the Towson Athletics Hall of Fame (2007), the University of Arizona Men's Lacrosse Hall of Fame (2019), the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association Hall of Fame (2018 and the Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame (2022).

In the first 15 games of the season, Towson has had eight different starting lineups, including five different players starting at attack and six starting on the first midfield line. 
 
By contrast, Towson had the same starting lineup in 14 of its 16 games in 2024.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
Drexel, under first year head coach Steven Boyle, is seeking its first CAA title since 2021. 
 
Two All-CAA Second Team players start on offense; leading goal scorer Max Semple, a senior attack, has 38 goals and five assists while junior midfielder Jack Joyner has 15 goals and 12 assists.  Sophomore attack Witt Crawford has tallied up 29 goals and 16 assists.
 
Taking the starting role later in the season, sophomore Brendan Donnelly is in goal with a 53.3% save rate and 10.63 goals allowed average.  Senior Collin Gucwa earned All-CAA Second Team on close defense with 12 ground balls and eight caused turnovers.
 
Senior Aidan Shortley is the primary faceoff man, winning 50.2% and having 86 ground balls.

NADELEN NAMED HEAD COACH OF U20 MEN'S NATIONAL TEAM
Towson head coach Shawn Nadelen has been selected as the head coach of the United States Men's U20 National Team.  Nadelen will prepare the U.S. U20 Team for the upcoming 2025 World Lacrosse Men's U20 Championship in South Korea.
 
He was part of the U.S. Senior National Team which won the gold medal in the 2010 FIL World Lacrosse Championships in England with a 12-10 victory over Canada in the title game.
 
Nadelen becomes the second Towson men's lacrosse head coach to lead one of the U.S. National Teams.  Tony Seaman, Towson head coach from 1999 to 2011, was the head coach of the U.S. Men's Senior National Team for the 1994 World Lacrosse Championship.
 
TV TIME
Four Towson home games will be on Monumental Sports Network this season.  The home of the Washington Capitals, Mystics and Wizards, Monumental Sports Network is based out of Bethesda and is aired across the DMV, spanning from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina.

TOWSON HONORED IN 2025 CAA YEARLY AWARDS, ALL-CAA TEAMS
On the eve of the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Men's Lacrosse Tournament, the league announced the sport's yearly and all-conference awards, with Towson University dominating in the honors.
 
Towson earned a share of three of the league's four yearly awards.  Mikey Weisshaar earned CAA Offensive Player of the Year, Ronan Fitzpatrick notched CAA Rookie of the Year and Shawn Nadelen attained CAA Co-Coach of the Year.
 
It is the second straight year where Towson has had the CAA Offensive Player of the Year, with Nick DeMaio selected in 2024.  Fitzpatrick earns Towson's first CAA Rookie of the Year honor since Jonathan Engelke was chosen in 2004.  Nadelen picks up his fourth CAA Coach of the Year award and third in four years, being selected in 2022 and 2024.
 
In addition, the All-CAA teams were also released, with five Tigers being recognized, including four on the first team: Weisshaar at attack, Chop Gallagher at midfield, Sam Morin at LSM and Joe Petro at defense while Conor Spagnolli picked up Second Team All-CAA.  Fitzpatrick was placed on the CAA All-Rookie Team.
 
The league's yearly and all-conference awards are nominated and voted on by the league's head coaches.  Head coaches could not vote for their own players.
 
Weisshaar, who was Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-America Second Team and CAA Preseason Player of the Year, is the league leader in goals with 39 and points with 55, having 16 assists.  The four-time CAA Offensive Player of the Week has had seven games with at least five points and five games with at least four goals, including a three-game stretch with 17 goals from Mar. 15-29.  Weisshaar earns All-CAA First Team for the second straight season.
 
Fitzpatrick, a redshirt freshman, is third in the CAA with 2.46 goals per game and fifth in goals with 32.  The four-time CAA Rookie of the Week has started 13 games on the attack line, adding nine assists and 18 ground balls, having multiple goals in 10 games and multiple points in 12 of 13 contests played.
 
Nadelen led Towson to its second-consecutive undefeated CAA regular season slate this year and nine victories, placing the Tigers in the top-15 nationally in the United States Intercollegiate Coaches Association (USILA) Coaches Poll and the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.
 
Gallagher earns his first-ever All-CAA honor.  The team captain and starter in the first midfield is Towson's leader in assists with 18, tying for fifth in the CAA, adding 16 goals for 34 points.  The graduate student notched at least one point in the first 13 games of the season.
 
Morin is an All-CAA player for the second straight season, being Second Team in 2024.  The senior is the CAA leader in ground balls among non-faceoff players with 60 and second on Towson in caused turnovers with 14, adding three goals.  The CAA Defensive Player of the Week on Mar. 24 scooped at least five ground balls in seven games.
 
Petro picks up his first all-CAA selection with Towson.  The senior defenseman is second in the CAA with 21 caused turnovers in 14 starts, adding 41 ground balls and two assists.  The CAA Defensive Player of the Week on Apr. 21 has at least one caused turnover in 11 games, including three contests with at least three.
 
Spagnolli also is a first-time All-CAA player this year.  Starting 12 games, the team captain has tallied up 30 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers, having at least one caused turnover in 10 games and multiple caused turnovers in four games.
 
Nadelen shared the CAA Coach of the Year award with Andrew Baxter of Fairfield.  Julian Radossich of Fairfield is the CAA Defensive Player of the Year.
