Vision of the Division - An Update from Dr. Steve Eigenbrot

Towson Faithful,

Just two weeks ago, we celebrated the Class of 2025 as it crossed the stage with a college degree in hand. Among them were almost 100 student-athletes—a true testament to the dedication and determination it takes to excel both in the classroom and in competition.

This past spring capped off a tremendous year for Towson Athletics. Our men's lacrosse team secured the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) championship for the second straight year. During the 2024-25 season, we earned three league regular season titles, two Coach of the Year honors, three CAA Players of the Year and four All-America distinctions. Our student-athletes and coaches consistently showed up ready to compete and represented our Tigers with pride.

Looking ahead, our department is already preparing for the 2025–26 campaign. We remain focused on enhancing our support systems and resources to ensure continued success. I hope Towson Athletics is part of your plans for the coming year as well.
The annual Tiger Athletic Fund Fan & Donor Guide will be arriving in mailboxes soon. It is filled with highlights from the past year and a glimpse into the exciting future ahead. Some milestones we are especially proud of include:
  • TU Big Give: In April, over 900 donors raised more than $727,000 for TU Athletics. On that same day, we announced a $500,000 commitment to the Campaign for Excellence, supporting vital capital projects.
  • Coach Carl Runk Tribute: More than 350 alumni, family and friends gathered on campus to honor a Towson legend with the unveiling of a permanent bust at Unitas Stadium.
  • SECU Partnership: We launched a new seven-year agreement making SECU the exclusive naming partner of our arena.
  • NIL Support: We introduced the Student-Athlete Resource Fund to allow tax-deductible donations that support Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) initiatives.
  • Major Philanthropy: John and Robin Beynon pledged $1.5 million to name the Towson Center Gym the Beynon Family Training Complex as part of the facility's planned renovations.
As we near the end of our fiscal year on June 30, I invite you to make a gift to TU Athletics. Our goal is to reach 2,500 donors for the 2024–25 academic year — and with 2,225 donors already on board, we're just 275 away with four weeks to go. Every gift, no matter the size, directly enhances the student-athlete experience. Whether you choose to support scholarships, travel, equipment or a specific program, your generosity helps shape the future of TU Athletics.

Looking ahead to the fall, football season tickets are on sale now. Be sure to purchase by June 16 to receive your physical ticket booklet. Also, mark your calendar for the rescheduled Black & Gold Golf Invitational at Hayfields Country Club, now set for Monday, August 11. Whether you are joining a foursome or playing as a single, it is a great way to support TU Athletics.

Thank you for your unwavering commitment to Towson University. Your generosity, spirit and pride fuel everything we do. We look forward to continuing this journey with you and hope to see you cheering for the Tigers this fall.

Have a great start to your summer!

Sincerely,

Dr. Steve Eigenbrot
