This week, more than 100 Towson student-athletes will walk across the stage at SECU Arena to receive their diplomas and begin the next chapter of their lives. As the campus celebrates the Class of 2026, the Tiger Athletic Fund is proud to recognize two outstanding student-athletes whose journeys exemplify what it means to be a Tiger: gymnast
Lauren Greene and baseball player
Josh Janove.
While their experiences were very different, both Lauren and Josh found a home at Towson and embraced every opportunity that came with being a Division I student-athlete. For Greene, Towson immediately stood out because of the culture and connection she felt during the recruiting process.
"I chose Towson University because it immediately felt like home," said Greene. "Everyone genuinely seemed close, supportive, and family-oriented."
That sense of belonging helped launch an extraordinary four years both academically and athletically. Greene, a pre-med student majoring in Biology and Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Bioinformatics, became one of the most accomplished student-athletes in Towson Athletics. A three-time All-East Atlantic Gymnastics League First Team selection on bars and a multi-time academic honoree, she also served in leadership roles across campus, including as Co-President of the Towson Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
On the competition floor, Greene helped lead Towson Gymnastics through one of the most successful stretches in program history, including conference championships in 2023, 2024, and 2026, multiple NCAA Regional appearances and the program's first-ever 197 team score.
Away from athletics, Greene conducted undergraduate research, earned multiple research grants, volunteered extensively throughout the community and worked as an Emergency Room Clinical Technician. Following graduation, she plans to pursue a career in medicine with the goal of becoming an orthopedic surgeon.
Janove's journey to Towson was far less expected. Originally planning to attend IMG Academy for a postgraduate year after high school, everything changed after attending a prospect camp on campus.
"It just felt like everything was meant to be," Janove said. "I loved the coaches, the campus, and the people here."
During his four years with Towson Baseball, Janove created countless memories, including a dramatic walk-off win over Stony Brook this spring and a road victory at nationally-ranked Northeastern last season. He also became one of only a handful of Division I baseball players to ever play all nine positions in a game and the first since 2018.
Beyond baseball, Janove gained professional experience through internships with Hayfields Country Club, the Hyatt Centric in Philadelphia and within the Towson Baseball program itself. Those experiences helped shape his career aspirations in hospitality and membership sales.
While Greene and Janove took different paths through Towson Athletics, both spoke about the lasting impact the university and its supporters had on their experiences.
"To everyone who supports Towson University, thank you for investing in something that is so much bigger than sports," Greene shared.
Janove echoed that appreciation while also recognizing the momentum surrounding Towson Athletics.
"TU Athletics is trending in the right direction," he said. "Having people who continue to support Towson student-athletes means a lot."
Lauren Greene and
Josh Janove represent the very best of Towson Athletics, serving as leaders in competition, in the classroom and throughout the community.
The Tiger Athletic Fund would like to thank you for your contribution to Towson Athletics this fiscal year. With your investment, you have had a role in helping our student-athletes walk across the graduation stage this week and earn a degree. We are forever grateful for your support!
Goh Tigers!
