Tiger Faithful,
As we enter the holiday season, I wanted to express appreciation for everything our department has accomplished this year and for everyone who makes this work possible. The dedication of our staff, the commitment of our student-athletes, and the unwavering support of our campus and community partners continue to elevate Towson University Athletics in remarkable ways. While the headlines often go to the results "on the field," with the support of President Ginsberg, we continue to excel and evolve in the ever-changing landscape of Division I Athletics and I am eager to share more with you about that progress and the other great things on our horizon.
Student-Athlete Development
Our mission begins with empowering student-athletes to succeed long after their playing days. This fall, our student-athlete development program made significant strides
delivering meaningful career content to our Tigers, while also engaging alumni and community members for meaningful content.
Meanwhile, service continues to define who we are. This fall, our Tigers have completed 4,828 hours of community service, supporting the Maryland Food Bank through SAAC's annual food drive, spending time with residents at Brightview Towson Senior Center, and engaging in dozens of school-based and neighborhood Halloween events. These moments remind us that our impact extends far beyond competition.
Brand Advancement and Community Visibility
Our reach continues to grow. This fall we secured a
two-year partnership with Monumental Sports Network, expanding broadcast visibility for football, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, and men's lacrosse for the 2024–25 and 2025–26 seasons.
We also doubled down on connecting with the local community. For football, we partnered with every school in the Towson Zone to distribute 4,500 complimentary tickets, welcomed nearly 250 educators for our inaugural Teacher Appreciation Game, and even introduced our first Canines & Kickoffs event. Last week, we made history, hosting the first-ever sellout of a women's basketball game at SECU Arena with our STEM Day event, which brought over 100 buses to campus. This winter, we will also welcome Baltimore County Public Schools for two Career Day games as we continue strengthening our ties with local students and families.
Student-Athlete Wellbeing
We are equally excited about the improvements scheduled for our athletics facilities, important investments that will drive our long-term success. A new dining facility, Doc's South Campus Kitchen, is scheduled to open in the Towson Center for the start of the Spring 2026 semester. Equipped with a full kitchen and seating for over 100 students, this facility will eliminate barriers to accessing meals throughout the school week, providing opportunities for our Tigers to fuel themselves for success on the field and in the classroom. In addition, our department-wide rollout of Headspace has provided a powerful, on-demand mental health resource for every staff member and student-athlete, putting meaningful support at their fingertips.
Facilities & Revenue Generation
In addition to the dining facility, the USM Board of Regents has approved our plan to invest up to $35 million into a tremendous expansion and renovation of the Unitas Stadium's Field House, as well as significant capital improvements to the first floor of the Towson Center. This work is slated to begin in Summer 2026 and will transform the department, bringing online a new Sports Performance Center, gutting both training rooms and adding considerable study hall and team meeting space. It will be followed by an additional project to be brought forward for board approval in 2026 to renovate the Towson Center gymnasium.
The momentum of these projects would not have been possible without the fundraising success of our Campaign for Excellence. One year in, we have secured over $3.3 million in support towards our $12 million philanthropic goal. Additionally, the Tiger Athletic Fund is currently pacing ahead of mid-year goals for both donors and dollars raised and the
addition of the Student-Athlete Resource Fund has bolstered our ability to remain competitive in today's Division I landscape.
Looking Ahead
As we turn toward a new year, I remain inspired by the momentum across our department and grateful for the people who make Towson such a special place. Thank you for the countless ways you support our programs, champion our student-athletes, and believe in our vision. Together, we're building something exceptional, on the fields and courts, in the classroom, and throughout the Baltimore community.
Wishing each of you a joyful and restorative holiday season.
Goh Tigers!
