Field Hockey Begins Homestand Against VCU and Rider

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University field hockey team begins a five-game home stretch this weekend as the Tigers host VCU on Friday, September 19 at 3 p.m. before welcoming Rider on Sunday, September 21 at noon.
 
Scouting the Opponents:
The VCU Rams are off to a 3-2 start to the 2025 season with wins over Georgetown, William & Mary and Old Dominion. The Rams are led by senior Morena Macera who has already scored six goals this season averaging over a goal per game. VCU also features rookies Lina Behrmann and Angelina Gandos who each have five assists on the season contributing to the Rams leading the Atlantic-10 in assists so far this season.
The Rider Broncos are 1-3 so far this season with a win over Colgate, Towson is the fourth Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) team the Broncos have played this season. Junior Ang Borisaw paces Rider with five points so far this season and is one of two Broncos alongside senior Semra Said who have both scored and assisted this season. Rider also returns senior Valeria Perales who scored ten goals and 22 points last season while leading the Broncos to a 10-9 record in 2024.
 
Big Time Comeback:
After missing the 2024 season, graduate student Ella Kaufman is the Tigers leading scorer with two goals and two assists for six points through six games.
 
Tiger Firsts:
Freshman forward Ava McConnell scored her first collegiate goal against Queens on Sunday.
