Drexel Tops Women’s Basketball in Rare Saturday Matchup

PHILADELPHIA – The Towson University women's basketball team faced Drexel at the Daskalakis Athletic Center in a rare Saturday matchup due to inclement weather in Sunday's forecast.
 
Drexel 11-7, 4-3 CAA) opened the game with the lead and held Towson (11-8, 4-3 CAA) at bay offensively on Saturday night at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The Dragons won 68-45 on their home court.

  • Amaris Baker hit a layup in the closing seconds to give the Dragons an 11-point halftime lead.
  • All nine of the Tigers' points in the third came from India Johnston as Drexel expanded its lead to 58-33 after three quarters.
  • Towson started the fourth quarter on a 9-2 run over the first five minutes, shrinking the deficit to 18.
