TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University field hockey team is set to play the first half of a four-game road trip this weekend. The Tigers will first visit William & Mary for its third Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) game of the season on Friday at 5 p.m. before staying in Virginia to play VCU on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Tigers enter the sixth week of the season after going 1-1 against Fairfield and Maine this past weekend. Against the Stags on Friday, goals from
Lydia Bennett and
Stevie Schultz kept the Tigers within one late in the fourth quarter before an empty net goal sealed a 4-2 loss. But Towson bounced back with a 1-0 win over Maine in which the Black Bears only attempted one shot, a season low in a game for Maine.
Delfina Larripa tallied an assist on Friday and a goal on Sunday to give the Graduate transfer a three-game point streak and push her up to a tie for seventh in the CAA in points on the season with 11.
Stevie Schultz contributed a goal and assist against Fairfield to bring her to five points on the season, tied for third among CAA rookies.
The Tigers started four true freshmen in Sunday's win over Maine. Schultz,
Ann Njoroge,
Else Wismans, and
Olivia Thunnissen have all started at least four games each and have played in all ten games this season as rookies.
Scouting the Opponents:
The William & Mary Tribe are 1-7 on the season with a 0-1 CAA record after a 2-0 loss to Northeastern on September 25, the Tribe most recently defeated Longwood 5-2. Senior Josie Mae Gruendel leads the way for William & Mary with five points while goalie Alexandra de Jesus has a season high 19 saves against Duke.
The VCU Rams are 5-4 so far in 2026 and hold a 2-0 Atlantic-10 record, the Rams have won three of the last four games entering this weekend. Josefina Ventimiglia paces VCU with four goals and nine points on the season and Emma Clements has 49 saves through nine games.
