TOWSON, Md. – Towson University men's lacrosse players
Mikey Weisshaar and
Matt Nilan have been selected for Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Men's Lacrosse Weekly Awards, announced by the league on Monday.
Weisshaar is the CAA Offensive Player of the Week while Nilan is the CAA Defensive Player of the Week.
This is the fifth time Weisshaar has been selected as the CAA Offensive Player of the Week in his career and first of the season. Nilan earns his first-ever CAA weekly award.
Weisshaar earned a couple of 4+ point days in each game. The senior attack totaled six goals and three assists, including four goals and two ground balls at Johns Hopkins.
Nilan, after 10 saves at Hopkins, earned an 18-save day vs. Navy. The redshirt junior goalkeeper had a 69.2% save rate, having the most amount of saves for a Towson goalie in a single game since Evan Long in 2023.
Each helped Towson as the Tigers played two teams receiving votes in the coaches poll. Towson fell in the season opener at then No. 16/15 Johns Hopkins on Tuesday, then turned around to defeat Navy 12-8 on Saturday.
The Tigers head north to Philadelphia to play at Saint Joseph's on Friday, Feb. 20 at 5 p.m.
