BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Towson University women's basketball team faced Campbell on Friday evening in the Tigers' penultimate road test of the regular season.
Campbell (17-11, 10-5 CAA) used a strong second quarter to build a nine-point lead at the half over Towson (16-12, 9-7 CAA). The Tigers never wavered, cutting the deficit to two after the third. In a tight fourth quarter, the Tigers held the Camels scoreless over the final 2:44 to win, 63-55, at Gore Arena.

How it Happened
- After getting out to an early 4-0 lead, Towson surrendered nine unanswered points to Campbell.
- The Tigers closed the first on an 8-2 run, led by India Johnston's four, to claim a 12-11 lead at the quarter break.
- Johnston (7), Viki Matulevicius (3) and Thalia Shepard (2) combined for all of Towson's points in the second quarter.
- The Camels outscored the Tigers by ten in the quarter and took a 33-24 lead into the halftime break.
- Towson scored 15 in the third, its best scoring quarter of the first three, while holding Campbell to eight. That allowed the Tigers to cut the deficit to two points headed into the final quarter.
- Tilda Sjökvist led the Tigers with six in the quarter after hitting back-to-back triples midway through the third. Kayla Morris (4), Masyn Marchbanks (3) and Shepard (2) also scored in the period.
- Campbell started the fourth quarter on a 6-2 run and went ahead 47-41 with 8:13 left in regulation.
- Johnston hit two and Marchbanks hit one three over the next 3:30, cutting the deficit down one at 51-50.
- After Felton pushed the lead back to three, Hannah Dereje and Johnston went 4-4 from the free throw line on two trips to claim a one-point lead with 2:52 to go.
- Nivar hit two free throws to retake a one-point lead before Towson closed the game on a 9-0 run to win, 63-55.
Inside the Numbers
- Johnston led all scorers with 24 points, marking the third time in the last four games she's finished with at least 24. She needs just eight points to reach the top ten scorers all-time in Towson program history.
- Marchbanks finished with 12 points, her second-highest scoring total this season. She was 2-4 from three, marking her fifth game this season she's hit at least two triples.
