WASHINGTON – The Towson University gymnastics team, competing in its final meet before next weekend's East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Tournament, had a couple of 49+ event scores to start before finishing with a 194.950 team score.
Towson took second in the meet behind visiting Maryland at 196.100. The Tigers finished ahead of Temple at 194.675 and host George Washington at 194.050.
Isabella Minervini took first in the all-around with a 39.275 score while
Isabella DeCroo won the vault with a season-best 9.900 score.
How it Happened for Towson (in Rotation Order)
- Floor (rotation one) – 49.000
- Vault (rotation two) – 49.200
- Bars (rotation three) – 48.575
- On leadoff, Hayden Gough got Towson off to a great start with a 9.800.
- Towson needed to get rid of a lower score as the middle gymnasts looked to rebound. Piper Slocum hit a 9.750, then Lauren Greene earned a 9.800.
- Despite a 9.375 score on fifth spot, Towson recovered some scoring with Isabella Minervini notching a 9.850 on anchor.
- Beam (rotation four) – 48.175
- A couple of falls from the first two gymnasts put Towson in a tough spot early. Towson looked to recover, including Isabella Minervini notching a 9.750 on fourth spot.
- Towson hits its marks on the final two spots with Celia Trotter earning a 9.825 and Brissa Portillo finishing with a 9.775.
Inside the Numbers
- Towson's 49.200 on vault is the best team vault score of the season and eighth-best in Towson history.
- Isabella Minervini wins the all-around for the ninth time this season.
