Towson Men's Basketball Adds Five Transfers to 2026-27 Roster

2026-27 roster is now at 15 players

TOWSON, Md. – Towson University men's basketball and head coach Pat Skerry have announced the addition of five transfers to the 2026-27 roster. Three players are coming from the DI level. Two players, Zion Stanford (Villanova) and Denis Badalau (Rutgers) are coming from power conferences, while Ben Roseborough (San Jose State) is coming from the sixth best conference in the country last season according to KenPom. Christian Doerr is returning to DI basketball after competing at John A. Logan College and Alex Atkinson is making the jump from DII to DI.

"Our priority this offseason was to upgrade our athleticism and versatility, add more shooting and bring in guys with a real competitive edge." Skerry said.

Zion Stanford | 6'6" | 205 lbs. | Philadelphia, Pa. | Villanova/Temple/West Catholic High School

Stanford was named to the 2023-24 All-American Athletic Conference (AAC) Freshman Team after averaging 6.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game in just 14.9 minutes per game. He followed up with 13.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 27.6 minutes per game his sophomore campaign. Per 40 minutes, Stanford averaged 17.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists his freshman year and 18.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists his sophomore year.

Stanford tallied six 20-point games during his sophomore campaign including his career high of 26 against Charlotte. In his last seven games as a starter, he averaged 18 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, one block and 0.6 steals per game.

At Villanova, Stanford played 10 games and averaged 5.1 minutes per game.

Denis Badalau | 6'8" | 200 lbs. | Giurgui, Romania | Rutgers/Aquila Basket Trento

Badalau joins the Tigers after playing with Rutgers last season. He played in 24 games, starting 12 averaging 3.1 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. Badalau led the team in scoring against Maine when he put up 19 points.

The Romanian national has experience on the international stage. During the 2024-25 FIBA World Cup season Badalau averaged just under 16 points per game while shooting 51% from the field, 45% from three and 88% from the charity stripe highlighted by a 25-point performance against Bulgaria. Badalau also competed for Trento in Italy in Serie A.

Ben Roseborough | 6'4" | 205 lbs. | Sacramento, Calif. | San Jose State/Bella Vista Prep

Roseborough played last season with San Jose State where he played in 11 games, starting nine. Roseborough averaged 12 points per game including a 23-point performance at Grand Canyon. He shot 39% from the field, 41% from three and 82% from the line.

Coming out of high school, Roseborough was a three-star prospect ranking No. 188 nationally, No. 33 as a shooting guard and No. 13 in California. He was nominated for the 2024 McDonald's All-American Game and earned Co-MVP honors at the 2022 Fall Ball Classic.

Christian Doerr | 6'3" | 180 lbs. | Louisville, Ky. | John A. Logan College/Morehead State/Evangel Christian School

Doerr averaged 15 points, 4.9 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game at Logan College while maintaining a 2.4 assist-to-turnover ratio. Doerr poured in 34 points against Rend Lake College.

Superlative awards filled Doerr's trophy cabinet as a First Team All-Great River Athletic Conference selection and an NJCAA All-Region player in Region 24.

Alex Atkinson | 6'10" | 200 lbs. | Columbia, S.C. | Claflin/Francis Marion/Lower Richland HS

Atkinson was one of the dominant big men at the DII level. He won the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the All-CIAA First Team.

In his second game of the 2025-26 season, Atkinson put up a 20-20 game with 24 points and 21 rebounds, his first of seven double-doubles for the Panthers last year. Atkinson put up another 20 rebound game against Livingstone just two months later, while adding 16 points.

Atkinson was a vaunted rim protector with a block in 12 of 18 games he played including a seven block game against Fayetteville State where he also put up 10 points and 11 rebounds.
