TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University field hockey team is entering its third week of the 2026 regular season. The Tigers are visiting no. 7 Maryland on Friday, September 11 at 6 p.m. before wrapping up the weekend at home with a noon match up on Sunday, September 13 against American.
The Tigers enter week three off a 2-0 weekend which included a 3-1 win over Georgetown and an overtime 1-0 victory against Rider.
Ava McConnell was the leading scorer of the week with two goals, while
Anouk Westerink tallied a goal and an assist. Baliey Masten notched her first goal of the campaign while
Delfina Larripa,
Ella Jefferson and
Gianna Tripodi all contributed assists.
The Towson defense had a strong pair of games as a first quarter goal allowed to the Hoyas on Friday proved to be the only goal given up all weekend as Towson kept its opponents off the board for the following seven quarters. This included the Tigers first shutout of the season against the Broncs which was also the first shutout of rookie goalie

Against Rider, the Tigers attempted 29 shots throughout the game, the most Towson has taken in a single game in over a decade. The ten shots in the first quarter were also the most shots taken in a single quarter this season.
Scouting the Opponents:
The Maryland Terrapins enter Friday's game ranked seventh in the nation by the NFHCA Coache's Poll. Maryland is 4-0 on the season after defeating Boston College 2-0 and taking a 3-2 shootout win over Duke this past weekend. Francisca Eschoyez leads the way for Maryland with four goals while Alyssa Klebasko has only allowed three goals through four games.
The American Eagles are 1-3 so far in 2026 and enter week three after losing 2-0 to Richmond and defeating App State 2-1 this past weekend. Six different Eagles have scored a goal this season while Emilia Winkler paces the team with two assists. Teagon Harmon made five saves against the Mountaineers to earn her first win of the season.
