Brandi Daniels Named to All-CAA First Team; Melissa Gomes Named to All-Rookie Team

RICHMOND, Va. ? Senior goalkeeper Brandi Daniels (Harborfields H.S./Huntington, N.Y.) of the Tigers has been named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association women's soccer first team, it has been announced by CAA officials.

 

In addition, freshman forward Melissa Gomes (John Carroll H.S./Kingsville, Md.) was named as a member of the CAA All-Rookie Team.

 

A two-time first team selection, Daniels led the Tigers to their second winning season in the last three years. As the Tigers' starting goalkeeper, she leads the CAA with an .853 save percentage while her 116 saves rank second in the league. Daniels also ranked fourth in the CAA with six shutouts this season.

 

A four-year starter, Daniels ended her career on Thursday night with a season-high ten saves and finished ranked second on the Tigers' career list with 403 saves. In addition, she also ranks third on the Tigers' all-time list in goals against average (1.17) and save percentage (.838). With 18 career shutouts, she ranks second in school history.

 

Gomes played in all 18 games for the Tigers and made ten starts. She recorded the first point of her college career in the Tigers' win over Northeastern University on September 30, tallying an assist in the 1-0 victory.

 

The Tigers ended the season with a 9-8-1 record.
