TOWSON, Md. –
Kale'a Perry was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week, fer first as a Tiger after netting a brace against Drexel.
Perry is no stranger to conference awards having been named to the All-CAA Third Team last season and to the All-ASUN first team while at Lipscomb.
"It's very exciting for KP to get this recognition. With her two goals yesterday, she is tied for first in goals scored in CAA play," head coach
Katherine Vettori said.
Perry's relentless pace and dazzling left foot on the wing proved exhausting for a Dragon's defense which could not contain her.
Just after the five minute mark of the game, Perry drew a yellow card after running past the outside back who, in a last chance effort to prevent a good scoring opportunity, tugged on Perry's shirt, conceding a free kick. The set piece ended up converting into Perry's first goal of the season when
Emely Rubio put the ball into the box which
Malin Bernt Schops headed down to Perry for the opening goal.
Perry secured the brace, one of two in the conference this week, in the 38th minute off a cross from
Luisangely Navas Gonzalez.
CAA awards for the week are not yet finished as the annual awards are set to be announced on Wednesday.
