WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Despite a strong performance from seniors Drew Pallace and Devin Kirby, the Tigers dropped their dual meet opener with a 203-89 setback against the College of William & Mary on Saturday afternoon.
"William & Mary is a tremendous team and I thought we competed very well," Towson Coach Pat Mead said. "We put together a lot of season best times and had a solid start to the season."
Pallace finished second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.91 while placing third in the 500-yard freestyle with a mark of 4:52.55.
Meanwhile, Kirby placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.76 seconds before a third place effort in the 100-yard freestyle.
Sophomore Mike Cheslock finished third in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:03.52 while sophomore Wesley Foltz took second place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:59.55.
The Tigers finished first in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:13.52.
Seniors Bradley Bolin and Zachary Wolfe had an outstanding start to the season in the diving events. Bolin took first place in the one-meter required event with 159.68 points while Wolfe won the one-meter optional event with 254.18 points.
The Tigers will be idle until October 24 when they face Marshall, East Carolina and Campbell.
