TOWSON, Md. - Senior Alise McDonald finished second in the all-around competition with a seasonal high 38.75 score while senior Jackie Schweitzer finished first on the uneven bars and the balance beam as the Tigers (13-2) posted a seasonal high 193.45 score to edge George Washington University (5-9) in a dual meet in the Towson Center on Friday evening.

The Tigers, who topped their previous high score (192.600) by 0.85 points, were able to hold off the Colonials, who earned a 192.050 score.

Although the Tigers led from the start of the meet, they did not clinch the victory until sophomore Avis Hixon earned a 9.80 on floor exercise and McDonald capped off the meet with a 9.725 score.

"We're on a little bit of a roll right now," said Towson Coach Dick Filbert. "We are just focused on making as many routines as possible. We aren't going to worry about what scores the judges give us. We can't control that. So, we just want to make as many routines as we can."

In the first rotation, the Tigers took an early lead when they earned a 48.525 team score. Sophomore Kacy Catanzaro and McDonald tied for first place on beam with 9.775 scores while Hixon was part of a four-way tie for third place with a 9.70 score. Junior Leslie Delima, freshman Kayla Carto and sophomore Amanda Murphy of GW were also part of the tie for third place.

The Tigers' strong effort on beam enabled them to enter the final rotation with a lead of 0.675 points over the Colonials. But, the Tigers turned in a very strong effort on floor exercise with a 48.525 score that allowed them to win the meet.

While Delima finished first on floor (9.875), the Tigers had three scores over 9.70. Hixon took second place with a 9.80 while freshman Britney Russell (9.75) earned a career high score to finish fourth. McDonald took fifth place with a 9.725 score.
