Monday's meeting between the Tigers and the Monarchs marked the 25th all-time meeting in the series ... Old Dominion now leads the all-time series by a 24-1 margin and have won all nine meetings played at the Towson Center.

Old Dominion has won 15 straight meetings over the Tigers, dating back to 2002 ... Towson's last victory in the series came in 2002, a 67-55 victory in Norfolk.

The Monarchs earned their fifth win in the last six games with the four-point victory over Towson on Monday night.

The Monarchs allowed less than 50 points for the second time this season by holding the Tigers to 47 points. They limited UMES to just 39 points on December 9 in an 81-39 victory at the Constant Center.

ODU Coach Blaine Taylor earned his 198th victory at Old Dominion, tying the school record for career wins held by Bud Metheny. Metheny had a 198-163 record at Old Dominion from 1948-65. Taylor is now 198-106 in 10 seasons at ODU.

The Monarchs has held a rebounding advantage over every opponent this season after having a 41-23 edge over Towson on Monday night.

The Monarchs failed to make 40 per cent of their field goal attempts for just the third time this season; they are now 2-1 in those games. ODU was held to 37.9% against Dayton on December 11 and a season-low 35.0% at Delaware in a 75-67 loss on December 4.

Frank Hassell scored a team-high 14 points in the win over Towson on Monday night, marking the fourth time in the last five games he has scored in double figures. Over the last five games, he is averaging 11.4 points per game.

Ben Finney had his third 10+ rebound game of the season with a game-high 10 rebounds against the Tigers. He had 12 rebounds against Delaware on December 4 and contributed 10 rebounds against #20 Georgetown on November 12.

The Tigers were held to a season-low 47 points in the loss against Old Dominion on Monday night. Prior to Monday, the previous season low was 57 points in the season opener against Miami University on November 12.

The Tigers also tied a season low with 23 rebounds on Monday night, matching the total they had against Princeton and La Salle in each of the last two games.

Isaiah Philmore recorded his third straight double-digit scoring effort with a game-high 16 points. Over the last three games, Philmore has averaged 17.0 points per game and has made 62.2 per cent of his field goal attempts.

Braxton Dupree reached double figures in scoring for the ninth time in the last 10 games, including each of the last six outings. He scored 10 points against ODU on Monday and also contributed eight rebounds.

Dupree is averaging 8.3 rebounds in the Tigers' last four games, including 11 rebounds against Princeton on December 22. He entered the game ranked second in the CAA with a 9.6 average.

Dre Conner had a game-high five assists in the Tigers' loss against Old Dominion, marking his second straight game with five or more assists. Since taking over as the Tigers starting point guard on December 20, he has 22 assists in four games. He also hit a shot from beyond mid-court at the end of the first half to tie the game at 28-28.
