WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Here are ten things that every fan should know as they get ready to watch the No. 15 Tigers' game against No. 14 William & Mary on Saturday afternoon.
No. 1 - First In CAA: Junior defensive end Frank Beltre, a pre-season All-CAA selection, leads all CAA defensive linemen with 39 tackles in six games.
No. 2 - Second In CAA: Averaging 226.5 rushing yards per game, the Tigers rank second in the Colonial Athletic Association in rushing.
No. 3 - 3rd Down: The Tigers lead the CAA in third down conversions. They have converted 47 of 85 third down opportunities for a .553 percentage.
No. 4 - 4th Straight: The Tigers, the CAA co-leaders, enter the William & Mary game seeking their fourth consecutive CAA victory.
No. 5 - 5 Games Over 200-Rushing Yards: In the Tigers' first six games, they have rushed for 200 or more yards five times. They are 5-0 when they pick up 200 rushing yards.
No. 6 - 6th Among Active Coaches: With 212 career victories, Jimmye Laycock of William & Mary ranks sixth among all active NCAA FCS coaches.
No. 7 - 7 Straight Wins: William & Mary has won all seven previous meetings against the Tigers. In Williamsburg, the Tribe is 4-0.
No. 8 - 8 Touchdown Passes: Tiger quarterbacks Grant Enders and Peter Athens have combined to throw eight touchdown passes this season.
No. 9 - 9 Ranked Teams: There are nine CAA teams ranked among the Top 25 this week as the CAA became the first league to have nine teams ranked at one. Villanova and Rhode Island are the only teams that aren't ranked. In addition to No. 14 William & Mary and No. 15 Towson, Maine is ranked ninth. James Madison is 11th while New Hampshire is 13th. Delaware is ranked 16th while Richmond is 18th. Old Dominion is the 21st ranked team in NCAA FCS while Massachusetts is 22nd.
No. 10 - 10 Road Losses: Last week's victory at Old Dominion snapped the Tigers' ten-game losing streak on the road. The last time that Towson had won a road game was a 36-28 victory over Rhode Island on Oct. 10, 2009.
