View From the Cheap Seats: A Split on Saturday

WILMINGTON, N.C. - "View From the Cheap Seats" is back to catch you up on Saturday's doubleheader split between the Tigers and the UNC Wilmington Seahawks. Senior left fielder Rachel Miller and Media Relations Assistant Megan O'Brien give you the inside scoop on what's going on in the dugout. Check the softball page on Towsontigers.com for more details.

Hey Tiger Fans,

We woke to a cloudy and cooler day on Saturday morning and the mood seemed to follow us to the field. We didn't start the day exactly as we hoped or planned. We lost the first game 3-2 in 11 innings and that was definitely not what we wanted. Apparently, we saw 154 pitches from Amanda Aditays and still were not able to make an adjustment. We can probably expect to see her again tomorrow so we better be ready. On a positive note, the sun came out and we came back in the 2nd game and showed them just how good of a team we really are. If we play and hit that same way tomorrow we will have another win under our belts. We had a season-high 13 hits, including two homeruns and two triples, and scored a season-high 12 runs to UNCW's one run in six innings. That 2nd game was one about team pride and there was no way we were going to let them win again. Katie Lingmai and Dominique Ortega both did an awesome job on the mound and our bats are finally starting to come alive again. Erika Stasch was 3-for-3 with five RBIs in game-two after hitting a grand slam and Brianna Jones also cracked her first career home run (note from Megan - Rachel was 3-for-4 in game-two, tying her career-high with three hits and three RBIs).

We had a nice dinner at Outback following the game. There was much laughing going on as the team was feeling good after the win. Then it was back to the hotel for a little study hall.

Sunday is the most important day of the series because it is the game that shows which team is willing to fight the most. Tomorrow these Tigers are going to be hungry from some Seahawk tail feathers.

Hopefully we'll have good things to report tomorrow!

Rachel and Megan
