Tigers to Welcome 10 New Players for 2011 Season

TOWSON, Md. – A talented class of 10 high school seniors, including four from the State of Maryland, will join the Towson University women's soccer for the upcoming 2011 season, it has been announced by Coach Greg Paynter.

“We are excited about the quality and depth of this class,” Coach Paynter said. “These young student-athletes are a great representation of the efforts of our Recruiting Coordinator Scott Gerseny. We expect that these players will continue to add to the competitive spirit that will enhance our chances to win a Colonial Athletic Association championship. 

“We have been able to secure these recruits from some of the elite club programs across the country, as well as finding some impact players from within our home-state of Maryland,” Coach Paynter added.

Here is a look at the Tigers' incoming class:

Katlyn Axenfeld
Position: Midfield
Hometown: Laurel, Md.
High School: Reservoir H.S.

At Reservoir H.S.: Two-time team captain for Coach Josh Sullivan … scored the game-winning goal to lead Gators to 2010 Maryland state title … also helped Gators reach state championship game in 2009 … member of Gators' lacrosse team.
