COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Senior Lindsay Poplaski took first place in the all-around competition as the Tigers (4-0) opened their season by winning a five-team meet at Ursinus College on Sunday.

The Tigers earned a 190.30 team score to beat West Chester (186.15), Ursinus (181.075), Springfield (177.75) and Wilson College (125.600).

Poplaski won the all-around competition with a 38.10 score. She also tied for first in vault (9.75) with teammates Britney Russell and Avis Hixon. She was also third on bars with a 9.575 score.

The Tigers, who had an 18-1 record last season, won the meet with their performances on vault and floor. Led by Hixon, Poplaski and Russell, the Tigers earned a 48.375 team score. Competing on vault for the first time in her career, Russell tied for first place with a 9.75 score. Freshman Janis Konkle added a 9.575 vault while senior Alyssa Dittman had a 9.55 score.

On the floor exercise, the Tigers earned a 48.10 score as Russell took first place (9.825). Hixon was second with a 9.70 score while senior Kacy Catanzaro placed third with a 9.65 score. Freshman Samantha Lutz also earned a 9.475 on floor for the Tigers.

Catanzaro, Lutz and Hixon were bright spots for the Tigers on bars as they earned the top three places. Catanzaro won the competition with a 9.80 score while Lutz was second with a 9.575 score. Hixon took third place with a 9.55 score on bars. The Tigers had a 47.775 team score on bars.

Catanzaro also led the Tigers on balance beam with a 9.60 score, good for second place in the meet. Poplaski tied for third place on beam with a 9.575.

While Poplaski won the second all-around title of her career with a 38.10 score, Catanzaro was second with a 36.90.

The Tigers, now 4-0 on the season, open their home schedule next Sunday afternoon by hosting William and Mary and Alaska-Anchorage at 1:00 p.m.
