TOWSON, Md. – Following
its 212.50-87.50 victory over the George Mason Patriots last weekend, the
Towson women's swimming and diving team heads to UMBC for a double dual meet
with the Retrievers and Loyola Saturday at the UMBC Natatorium beginning at 1 p.m.
The Tigers (6-1, 4-0 CAA) do not have a loss on the road in
a dual meet this season.
With
the CAA Championships nearly a month away, the Tigers will be looking to
improve the team's depth and find consistent contributors for the rest of the
season.
“I'm
hoping at the end of this weekend we'll have a better picture of things,”
Towson Head Coach Pat Mead said. “Historically, we start to kind of click this
time of year. They are learning that they have to be consistent. We have
to have everyone on that team have that goal. We need everybody on board and staying
healthy, positive and driven.”
Senior
Cari Czarnecki and sophomore Kaitlin Burke have been standouts for
the Tigers, as each has been honored as the Colonial Athletic Association Women's
Swimmer of the Week twice this season.
Czarnecki
won three individual events, while Burke took first place in a pair against
George Mason Saturday.
The
Tigers have been aided by the team's depth on the diving boards this season.
Seniors Caroline Baker and Jeanne Ball have each had success in both the one
and three-meter events, while freshman Lyndsey Dickson has recently shown great
improvement.
