"It was a very back-and-forth, direct style of play tonight," noted Towson head coach Greg Paynter. "We got a couple of really good chances early and didn't finish and then dodged some bullets when they hit two posts. They really put pressure on us tonight, and we weren't able to sustain pressure on offense. But I am proud of the way they fought and the effort they put in tonight."

One of Towson's early opportunities came from senior co-captain Cheyenne Skidmore at 5:30 and went just wide right. Sophomore Erin Quinn made two key stops in the first 15 minutes to keep the Huskies off the board. Northeastern's Devin Griffin put her side up 1-0 at 24:20 when Hanna Terry controlled a clear from Towson at midfield and passed middle to Griffin who shot low right to beat Quinn. Quinn made a point-blank save of Emily Nasuti's shot in the 37th minute to keep the deficit to one goal at the half.

Northeastern kept pressuring the Tigers in the second frame, but Banes tied the game at 1-1 when she controlled a ball bouncing around the box and sent a rainbow over the head and outstretched fingers of Paige Burnett in the 56th minute.

However, the Huskies scored the eventual game-winner five minutes later when Hannah O'Donnell and Griffin worked a give-and-go, with O'Donnell notching her second goal of the season.

The Tigers return to action on Sunday, October 14 when they take on the Hofstra Pride at 1 p.m. in Hempstead, N.Y.
