TOWSON, Md. - Senior co-captain Cheyenne Skidmore scored a goal on Senior Day to lead the Towson women's soccer team (1-14-2, 1-7-1 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA)) to a 1-1 double overtime draw with Georgia State (4-10-2, 1-7-1 CAA) Sunday afternoon at the Tiger Soccer Complex.

"I thought we outplayed them in all aspects," said head coach Greg Paynter."Credit to Georgia State; they defended well under adverse conditions, with the red card. We got our shots, but we were just unable to execute."

Georgia State's Margaret Bruemmer was given a straight red for fighting at 23:38. Both teams struggled with connecting on their passes, but the Tigers out-shot the Panthers 25-5 through 90:00. The game was scoreless until the 80th minute when GSU's Ashley Nagy controlled a ball at midfield and sent a pass to Jordan Young who beat Towson keeper Erin Quinn with a hard shot from 20 yards out. However, the Tigers regrouped and five minutes later, freshman Katie Ponce took the ball down the right side and served it into Skidmore, who directed a header past Rebecca Toler at 84:30.

"Cheyenne has been a remarkable player for us," said Paynter. "She came in under-recruited and had a tremendous career. She always works hard, on and off the ball.

Towson tested the Panthers and Toler repeatedly throughout both overtimes, most notably in the 116th minute when Skidmore's attempt was gathered in by Toler and then again when freshman Hollie Garber's shot glanced off the crossbar two minutes later.

Towson finishes the regular season at George Mason on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
