TOWSON, Md. - Matt Collingwood and Zack Stone each won events, leading the Towson men's swimming and diving team to its second dual meet victory of the season Saturday, a 162-117 win over George Washington at Budick Pool in front of numerous alumni who attended the meet.
"There are some really good things going on with our guys," Towson head coach Pat Mead said. "Overall, I couldn't be more proud of our guys."
The 200-yard freestyle event was a momentous swing for the Tigers (2-3, 0-3 CAA), as they claimed the first three finishers. Collingwood won the event in 1:43.87, but was followed closely by Sawyer Martin (1:44.13) and Stone (1:44.42)
"The 200-freestyle was a huge event," Mead said. "It set the tone for the rest of the meet. Those three guys did great. That event summed up the direction of where our men's team is going."
Stone then came back and won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:43.94 for Towson.
The Tigers will return to Burdick Pool for their next dual meet on Jan. 5, 2013 against Howard.
