WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Seniors Deree Fooks and Krystal Parnell scored 13 points each to lead the Tigers to a 56-50 victory over William & Mary on Thursday night. The Tigers (14-9, 5-7 CAA) won their second straight game and completed the season sweep of the Tribe (9-14, 2-10 CAA).

William & Mary grabbed an early 7-4 lead before the Tigers used a 7-0 run to take an 11-7 advantage with 13:33 to play in the first half. The two teams traded baskets over the next several minutes as an Emily Correal jumper at 10:51 made it a 13-12 game, in favor of the visitors. Parnell converted a three-point play at 8:31 to put Towson up 18-12. With the Tigers leading 22-16, the Tribe went on a 10-3 run. That run put the home team up 26-25 with 1:32 to play in the half. Fooks hit a lay-up with 1:01 to play to send the visitors into the locker room with a 27-26 advantage.

Towson shot 42.9% from the field in the first half as Fooks and Parnell had six points each. The Tribe shot 36.4% from the floor in the first 20 minutes of action.

William & Mary opened the second half on a 7-2 run to take a 33-31 advantage with 14:34 to play. Fooks converted a three-point play at 13:22 to put the visitors up 34-33. Katherine DeHenzel answered with a basket to put the Tribe on top 35-34. Freshman guard Ciara Webb nailed a jumper at 12:48 to give the Tigers a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the way. The Tiger lead would fluctuate between one and three points over the next five plus minutes of action. Up 46-45, the Tigers used an 8-0 run to push their lead to 54-45 with 31 seconds to play. That was the Tigers' largest advantage of the game. The Tribe would close the game on a 5-2 run to make the final score, 56-50.

The Tigers shot 42.9% from the field and finished the game shooting 42.9%. Towson shot 84.6% from the foul line in the second half and finished the game shooting 68.4% from the line. William & Mary shot 28.1% from the field in the second half and 32.3% for the game. Towson held a slim 39-38 advantage in the rebounding battle.

The Tigers featured a balanced scoring attack in the game as eight of the 10 Tigers that played scored at least two points. Fooks recorded a “double-double” for the second straight game as she had 10 rebounds to go with her 13 points. Fooks would also contribute three assists, two blocks and two steals. Parnell had four rebounds and two assists in addition to her 13 tallies. Sophomore guard Tanisha McTiller was the third Tiger in double figures as she contributed 11 points and six rebounds. Sophomore forward Nyree Williams came off the bench to post eight rebounds, four points and three blocked shots.

William & Mary was led by Jaclyn McKenna who contributed 13 points and six rebounds while Correal finished with 10 points.

The Tigers return to action on Sunday, Feb. 12 when they host Northeastern at 3:30 p.m. in the Towson Center.
