| @Towson_SB Wins Two In Shutouts Saturday

TOWSON, Md. – After combining to score just five runs over its past two games, the Towson offense came to life Saturday in a pair of shutout victories over the Columbia Lions. The Tigers (8-8, 0-0 CAA) won the first game 15-0 and the second contest 2-0.

Towson scored 13 runs in the first inning of game one against Columbia as the Tigers sent 18 batters to the plate. Senior outfielder Erika Stasch hit a bases-loaded double that cleared the bases and put the Tigers in front 12-0. She and Jillian Donnelly each had three runs batted in and three runs scored for the Tigers in the victory.

“We hit a lot at practice yesterday and when we can do that and really focus it seems to pay off,” Towson Head Coach Lisa Costello said. “I haven't ever been around an inning like that.”

Katie Lingmai would benefit from the run support in the circle for Towson. The junior threw all five innings in the first game for Towson, allowing only two hits while striking out eight batters. With the win, Lingmai is now 3-2 this season.

The Tigers received another outstanding performance in the circle in game two from freshman Missy McCormick. The young pitcher threw the best game of her career against the Lions, limiting Columbia to just two hits in her first career shutout. She did not walk a batter and struck out five.

Stasch hit a solo home run in the win for the Tigers, her fifth of the season. That number matches her total from last year.

The Tigers will finish the series with the Lions Sunday. First pitch is at 11:30 a.m.
