TOWSON, Md. – The Hofstra Pride (31-13, 15-0 CAA) earned a pair of Colonial Athletic Association victories Saturday, defeating the Tigers 4-1 in game one and 10-0 in game two at the Tiger Softball Complex.

Towson (25-25, 8-9 CAA) played great defense in the first game behind junior starting pitcher Katie Lingmai. After Lingmai set the Pride down in order in the top of the first, she hit Hofstra's Tessa Ziemba with a pitch, putting Ziemba on first base. However, Lingmai induced a 1-6-3 double play off the bat of Erin Trippi to get the first two outs of the inning and retired Courtney Crews on a pop out to Towson second baseman Haley Stueckler.

After Hofstra scored three runs in the fourth inning of game one courtesy of a home-run from Trippi, the Tigers answered back with their own power surge as first baseman Andrea Stevenson drilled her fourth homer of the season off of Hofstra pitcher Olivia Galati. Stevenson connected on a long shot over the right field wall to lead off the bottom of the inning and bring Towson to within a 3-1 score.

Lingmai would allow only one more run from that point and pitched a complete game for the Tigers. It was the 21st complete game of the season for Lingmai, who allowed only four hits and two walks in the game. She struck out five batters, and held Hofstra's first four hitters in the lineup to a combined 2-for-12 at the plate.

Galati earned the win in game one, going the distance and striking out 13. Like Lingmai, she also allowed four hits in the first game Saturday.

Galati also started game two for the Pride and earned the victory for Hofstra. She is the CAA leader with 24 victories this season.

The Pride took the lead early in game two when Ziemba singled home shortstop Becca Bigler to give the Pride the game's first run, putting Hofstra ahead, 1-0 in the first inning.

In game two, Crews hit a three-run home run for the Pride and Ziemba also had three runs batted in for Hofstra.

Towson senior outfielder Brianna Jones had a hit in game two, using her speed to beat out a throw from Bigler at shortstop to earn a single. Jones also doubled for the Tigers in game one and finished the doubleheader 2-for-5 at the plate.

The teams will conclude the series at the Tiger Softball Complex Sunday at 1 p.m. Prior to the game, Towson will recognize its eight seniors for their contributions to the program.
