| @Towson_SB's Lingmai Throws No-Hitter in Win

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Junior Katie Lingmai threw the ninth no-hitter in program history to help the Towson University softball team defeat Drexel Saturday morning. The Tigers (16-21, 3-6 CAA) snapped a seven-game losing streak with the 2-0 victory.

Lingmai's no-hitter is the second of her career, she also threw one against James Madison during the 2010 season.

Lingmai allowed just three runners to reach base in the game, via an error, a walk and a hit batter. She allowed just one runner to reach third base the entire game.

"Katie pitched very well today," said Towson Coach Lisa Costello. "We also got a couple of key hits to score some runs and back her up."

Towson got all the offense Lingmai would need in the top of the fourth. Senior second baseman Haley Stueckler singled leading off the frame and stole second. Freshman designated player Macie McGeehan was hit by a pitch and a ground out put runners on second and third with one out. Senior pinch-hitter Courtney Wittner delivered an RBI single to plate Stueckler with the game's first run. Junior left fielder Kelli Lyons added a second run for the Tigers as she had an RBI groundout in the frame.

The two runs in the fourth, proved to be enough as Lingmai was in control the rest of the way.

Lingmai struck out four batters to earn her 10th win of the season in the circle. Hillary Allen took the loss after giving up two runs on nine hits.

Freshman shortstop Hailey Balk and senior first baseman Andrea Stevenson led the Tigers with two hits each. Stueckler had a hit and run scored while Wittner had a hit and an RBI.

The Tigers are back in action on Wednesday, Apr. 11 when they host Howard in a doubleheader at 3 p.m.
