TOWSON, Md. - The Colonial Athletic Association Champion Tiger women's lacrosse team returns to action on Saturday, May 12 when they host former coach Missy Doherty and Penn State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. First draw for Saturday's action is set for 3 p.m.

The Tigers (16-3) will be making their fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2005. Towson, which is seeded eighth in the bracket, will be hosting an NCAA Tournament game for the first time in program history.

Saturday's game will be broadcast on WNST-1570AM with Spiro Morekas handling the call.

Towson guaranteed its spot in the tournament and won its 10th straight contest with a 15-5 win over Monmouth in last Saturday's NCAA Play-In game. The Tigers were led by sophomore attacker Ashleigh Rohrback who had three goals and two assists in the contest.

On the season, sophomore attacker Andi Raymond leads the Tigers with 66 points. Raymond has 33 goals and 33 assists in 18 games. Rohrback is second on the team with 48 points on 26 goals and 22 assists. Senior goalkeeper Mary Teeters leads the team with an 8.13 goals against average and a .513 save percentage.

Doherty led Penn State (11-6) to an at-large bid in the tournament in her second season with the Nittany Lions. Doherty was the head coach at Towson for seven seasons before heading to Penn State prior to the start of the 2011 season. She had a 79-46 record in Towson and won three CAA Championships and made four NCAA Tournament appearances with the Tigers.

Sophomore attacker Mackenzie Cyr leads Penn State with 55 points on 33 goals and 22 assists while freshman attacker Maggie McCormick has 55 points on 28 goals and 27 assists. Senior goalkeeper Dana Cahill enters the game with a 9.93 goals against average and a .491 save percentage.

The winner of Saturday's game advances to the second round to face the winner of the game between top seeded Florida and Albany.
