| @Towson_MGOLF's Ken Jee Interns With PGA Tour

Towson University golfer Ken Jee, a rising senior, is spending his summer interning with the PGA of America. He has kept track of his responsibilites and also let's us know how being part of the Towson golf team has helped him out. See what Ken had to say below.

This summer I interned for the PGA TOUR.  I have worked with the corporate marketing department for the Title sponsor relations team.  The title sponsors are the tournament sponsors like Waste Management or the Greenbrier; we only work with them extensively for a week of the year.  This is not to be confused with an ongoing marketing partner like FedEX that we work with year round.

I have done a lot of research on our different title sponsors and consolidated it for internal use.  I also worked on some proposals for new title sponsor relationships.   Currently I am working on a project in which I am organizing best practice information and testimonials in an internal database for use in proposals and business to business communication.

I have had a good time working with the PGA TOUR so far.  I have learned that it should not be confused with the PGA and that they are very separate entities.  I have also learned that the PGA TOUR does not run any of the major championships which is very interesting to me.

The people here have been very nice and they are knowledgeable about golf.  I have gotten to play a decent amount on the Dye Valley and the Stadium Course at Sawgrass.  I am taking off work for a couple days towards the end of July to play in the Jacksonville amateur and the US am qualifier.  I believe that I should get a pretty decent audience.

Academically, Towson has more than prepared me for the work that I have done here at the PGA TOUR.  I am able to use what I have worked on in class in actual business practice.  I have been able to compartmentalize my time better than most of the other interns due to playing Towson Golf. Everyday I practice from 7-8, work from 8-5 then play afterwards.  My bosses and the other interns are impressed with how I am able to fit both  work and practice into my schedule.

I have fully committed to working with a teacher here and am hitting the ball better than I have in a long time.  I played 9 holes the other day and hit 9 greens.  I will be representing Towson in the Jacksonville Amateur next week and I hope to make waves. I am confident with my driver right now and am more prepared than ever to come and compete as our season kicks off in September!
