WILLIAMSBURG, VA – The Towson men's golf team placed 10th at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate, hosted by William & Mary.
Ariihau Faana and
Sky Aung were the two top individual finishers for Towson, placing in a tie for 17th with a three-round score of three-over par.
Faana was coming off a strong second round where he shot one-under par 70. On Tuesday, he birdied two of his final six holes to card a 72 (+1).
Aung came into the day at one-under par after three birdies over his final six holes in round two. Aung shot 75 (+4) in round three, with a birdie on hole two, a feat he accomplished in all three rounds.
Jai Sheth and
Michael Matheson both shot nine-over par. Sheth achieved his third birdie in three attempts on hole six while Matheson closed his ledger with a par on the ninth hole. Sheth placed 53rd and Matheson placed 62nd as individuals.
Poon Nantsupawat placed 78
th with a 13-over par performance in the third round to bring his tournament total to 28-over par. Nantsupawat was one of the five Towson golfers who birdied the second hole on the day.
Matthew Gonnello competed as an individual, finishing 46th overall at 14-over par, after rounds of 75-75-77.
Hosts William & Mary won the tournament, shooting two-under par and finishing atop the team standing after each round.
There was a tie for first place at five-under par with Jack Trazy of Navy and Matt Zerfass of Villanova.
The Tigers will return to the course on April 12 for the Abarta Coca-Cola Intercollegiate Invitational hosted by Lafayette College.
