ST. HELENA ISLAND, S.C. – Towson University men's golf is in a tie for fourth place at the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Championships after the second round. The Tigers shot three-over par in round two, bringing their tournament total to seven-under par.
Ariihau Faana is in second place on the individual leaderboard after shooting even par, remaining at five-under par in the tournament.
Faana's even-par second round saw him shoot par or better on each of the first six holes for the second straight time. He is five-under par on the first third of the course. Faana has seen similar success on the final six holes. In the second round, Faana shot two-under par on the final six holes to bring his tournament total on those holes to six-under through two rounds.
Matthew Gonnello climbed eight spots to 12th with a one-under par second round. Gonello birdied hole three for the second straight round and ended his round with par or better holes on the final six holes. His one-under par second round score was the best of any Towson golfer.
Sky Aung sits at 16th after a three-over par second round. Aung shot one-under par on the front nine with par or better holes after hole three.
Michael Matheson improved five spots to 24th place. Matheson carded one-over par in the second round highlighted by a three-under par front nine.
Jai Sheth rounds out the Towson golfers on the day. Sheth shot seven-over par in round two but had par or better holes through the first eight holes.
The individual leaderboard has a Tiger towards the top. Faana is three strokes behind the individual leader, James Rico of UNCW. The Seahawks are the team leaders at 18-under par, seven strokes ahead of second place and 11 strokes ahead of the Tigers.
