Philadelphia, Pa. - Despite a career-high 10 saves from sophomore goalkeeper Erin Quinn, the Towson University women's soccer team (0-9-1, 0-2 Colonial Athletic Association) dropped a 4-0 decision to Drexel (7-1-2, 1-0-1 CAA) Sunday afternoon at Vidas Field.

Towson had several chances in the first 10 minutes of the game but was unable to capitalize on them. The Tigers kept pushing against a solid Dragon defense throughout the half. The teams traded possession through to end of the frame and went into the break in a scoreless draw.

But Drexel exploded in the second half for four goals to claim the victory. Melissa Chapman scored on a header after a corner kick from Courtney Wylie in the 54th minute. Caitlin Gottier and Alex Vazquez each tallied goals in a 37-second span to put the Dragons up 3-0 in the 76th minute. Jess Sarkisian and Juliana Speroni put together a give and go that ended with a Sarkisian goal at 84:04.

Towson didn't give up, however, and had several scoring opportunities. The Tigers had an excellent chance to get on the board when Katlyn Axenfeld took a corner at 73:50, but the shot went wide.

Next weekend, Towson plays its home opener against Old Dominion on Friday, Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. The Tigers then host William & Mary at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30.
