Men's Swimming and Diving

| @Towson_SWIMDIVE Races Past Howard

TOWSON, Md.
– Competing in its first meet of the new year, the Towson men's swimming and diving program showed little rust in an impressive 206-64 home victory over Howard in the team's final meet of the home season.

Freshman Matt McKenney won a trio of events in the win for the Tigers (3-3), pacing the pack in the 200-yard freestyle (with a time of 1:43.63), the 500-yard freestyle (4:42.84) and the 200-yard individual medley (1:58.71). McKenney was also part of a Towson contingent that won the 200-yard medley relay.

The meet was also a breakout for Matt Hans, who won the 50-yard freestyle event and was a part of two relay victories. Hans tied with teammate Matt Collingwood in the 50-yard freestyle, as both timed in at 21.65. Hans also finished third in the 200-yard freestyle, recording a time of 1:47.64.

The meet gave a chance for the Tigers to send out their seniors, who were competing in their final career home meet, out on top with the win. According to head coach Pat Mead, the meet was a solid showing for seniors Colin Bond, Joe Mills, Zack Stone and Ryan Westhafer.

“They swam well and it's great for them,” Mead said. “I told the group before the meet that I thought they did a very good job of finishing their senior year. This group has done a very good job of finishing well, and it creates a culture that hopefully will resonate with some of the underclassmen.”
