FAIRFAX, Va. - The Towson University men's swimming and diving team improved to 6-1 overall this season with wins over College of Charleston (score of 215-116) and George Mason (182-167) on Saturday afternoon on the final day of the POD meet hosted by George Mason.
With six dual meet victories, Towson has its most since the 2006-07 season.
"For the men, it was great," Towson Head Coach Pat Mead said. "It's a matter of how our men believe in the work and believe in the process. We have a group of men that really believe they can win."
Matt Lowe, Tim Schade and Jeremy Liu stepped up for the Tigers on Saturday, each winning events. Lowe won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:34.84, Schade the 200-yard backstroke in 1:52.98 and Liu the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:05.98. Sophomore Matt McKenney also won the 200-yard butterfly in 1:52.48 for Towson.
On the diving boards, Alex Cohen had a tremendous three-meter performance, setting a career-high with a score of 307.60. He won the event.
Towson heads to George Washington next Saturday for a meet beginning at 1 p.m.
