KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- The Towson men's golf team is in a tie for sixth-place after one day of play at the 2013 Wendy's Kiawah Classic, which is being held at Turtle Point Golf Course in Kiawah, S.C.
The Tigers began the 54-hole, three-day tournament by shooting a 295 on Sunday. Towson is only four shots out of second-place after 18 holes.
South Carolina, the defending champion, leads the 18-team field after carding a 283 (-5) on Sunday. The Gamecocks hold an eight-stroke lead over Radford (291). Presbyterian, Charleston Southern and Marquette are in a three-way tie for fifth after each posting a 292 in the first round.
The Tigers were balanced at the top of their lineup on Sunday with Joe Gunerman, Matt Fry and Sam Stewart each shooting 1-over 73's. The trio is in a tie for 17th overall in the 96-player field.
Sophomore Ryan Siegler shot a 4-over 76 to make up Towson's team score.
