| @Towson_SB Suffers First Loss of Season at ECU

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Looking for its first 5-0 start since 1988, the Towson softball team suffered its first loss of the season at East Carolina, falling 10-2 to the Pirates in six innings Sunday afternoon. The Tigers finished the Pirate Classic with a 4-1 record in their first tournament of the season.

Bina Abbott had two hits, a run batted in and a run scored, while sophomore Macie McGeehan had the other run batted in for Towson, whose opening four-game win streak was snapped by the Pirates and pitcher Sarah Christian.

Christian limited the Tiger offense, who outscored their opponents 27-9 in the team's first four games, to just five hits in six innings and improved to 2-0 this season.

After surrendering two runs in the first inning, Towson senior starting pitcher Katie Lingmai settled in nicely, yielding only three runs through four innings.

However, the Pirates scored four runs and had four hits in the fifth, increasing their lead to 7-0.

The team then added three additional runs in the sixth, including a pair on Abby Wynne's single. Wynne finished the game with three runs batted in, while second baseman Kristi Oshiro went 4-for-4 with four runs scored, helping the Pirates win their third game of the season.

Lingmai was the losing pitcher for Towson, though she struck out five batters in 4.1 innings.

The Tigers will next head to the College of Charleston Cougar Classic, beginning Thursday in South Carolina.
