TOWSON, Md. - Despite a complete game from senior pitcher Katie Lingmai, the Towson softball team fell to the Georgetown Hoyas (13-20) by a 3-2 margin on Thursday at the Tiger Softball Complex.

Lingmai, the school's all-time leader in strikeouts, threw the 67th complete game of her career and found a groove early, striking out four batters in the first two innings for the Tigers (15-18-1, 0-3 CAA).

However, the Hoyas got to Lingmai in the third inning, scoring two runs in the frame against the Towson hurler. After an error by the Tigers put Elyse Graziano on first base, the centerfielder stole second and got into scoring position for Samantha Giovanniello. The Hoyas' leadoff batter, Giovanniello singled up the middle, scoring Graziano and giving the Hoyas an early 1-0 advantage. Georgetown would increase its lead to 2-0 when Shikara Lowe doubled to left field and scored Giovanniello later in the inning.

Towson scored its first run of the game in the fourth inning, when sophomore Macie McGeehan singled with the bases loaded, scoring Olivia Yarbrough who had reached base with a bunt single and was on third at the time of McGeehan's base hit.

Towson then tied the score when Kelli Lyons' scored from third base on a wild pitch in the bottom half of the fifth, making the score 2-2.

Lingmai battled with the Hoyas for much of the game, but surrendered the go-ahead home run to Georgetown's Madeleine Giaquinto in the sixth inning, a solo shot the put the Hoyas ahead for the remainder of the game at 3-2.

Lingmai finished the game giving up three runs and six hits in seven innings, striking out eight.

Georgetown's Megan Hyson was the winning pitcher, striking out seven in five innings of work.

The Tigers resume Colonial Athletic Association play with a series at Delaware on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
