Tigers Wrap Up Regular Season This Weekend

TOWSON, Md. - The Towson women's soccer team finishes the regular season with two Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) matches this weekend, hosting Elon on Friday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. and William & Mary on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. Sunday's match will be Senior Day.

Towson will honor its five seniors on Sunday post-game.

Towson went 1-0-1 last weekend in two tough CAA matchups with Delaware and Drexel. The Tigers handed UD its first loss in the series since 2009 and first home loss since 2000. Senior co-captain Katie Ponce scored the game winner against the Hens and the game-tying goal at Drexel to earn CAA Player of the Week honors. The Tigers got outstanding performances from all over the field. Senior goalkeeper Erin Quinn made 17 saves on the weekend, including 11 in the Tigers' double-overtime 2-2 draw with the Dragons. Quinn moved into a tie for 3rd place all-time at Towson in career saves after her efforts last week. Junior Nikki Nicholas performed well in her new role out wide as part of a new 3-4-3 formation, and freshman Maddie Bove was a key part of a defense that allowed no Drexel goals via the run of play.

Ponce's five goals lead the Tigers with 11 points. Freshman Gabby Scirica has a team-best four assists. Quinn is the Tigers' goalkeeper of record, with a .751 save percentage and a 1.82 goals-against average (GAA). She is tied for 25th in total saves in the NCAA this week.
