TOWSON, Md. - The Towson University men's swimming and diving team travels to George Mason for a two-day meet beginning Friday, Oct. 31. The Tigers will face College of Charleston and the host Patriots.
The two-day meet will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday and continues at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1.
"This weekend will be very similar to our past two competitions," Head Coach
Pat Mead said. "Most likely the victorious team will win by a very small margin. I am confident that our men will step up to the challenge."
The Tigers (2-1) dropped a close decision at Old Dominion on October 25 by a final score of 155.5 to 140.5.
Towson earned victories in six events against the Monarchs as five different swimmers had first-place finishes.
Sophomore
Nick Breschi had first-place finishes in the 100- (50.60) and the 200-yard backstrokes (1:51.16).
Seniors
Matt Lowe and
Brandon Ress were successful as well against Old Dominion.
Lowe finished first in the 500-yard freestyle (4:36.23) and in second place in the 1000-yard freestyle (9:39.28).
Ress earned a victory in the 1000-yard freestyle (9:36.66) and a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (4:38.87).
Freshman
Nick Essing saw improvement in the diving events as he finished third for both the one-meter (105.60) and the three-meter (107.63).
The Tigers will return home to host George Washington on Saturday, Nov. 8, beginning at 1 p.m. Â
