Tigers Defeat Wagner, Quinnipiac On Saturday

TOWSON, Md. - Macie McGeehan and Hailey Balk each had four hits and three runs batted in, leading the Towson University softball team to a 13-5 win in six innings over Quinnipiac on Saturday afternoon on the opening day of the Tiger Clash.

In Towson's second game of the day, the Tigers (16-9) defeated Wagner, 6-3, to increase their winning streak to three games.

Against Quinnipiac, the Tigers were faced with an early deficit after Sydney Robey's two-run single gave the Bobcats (2-17) an early 2-0 advantage in the first inning.

Abby Johnson singled home another run in the second for the Bobcats to put the team up by three runs, but the Tigers responded in the bottom of the inning when McGeehan doubled down the leftfield line and brought home Holiday Cahill and Nicole Delgado.

A two-run single by Courtney Johnson gave Towson a 4-3 lead in the third and gave the Tigers their first lead of the game.

The Tiger bats would continue to stay rolling in the fourth as McGeehan connected again, this time with a run-scoring triple. Maureen Hepner's long two-run homerun continued the output as part of a five-run inning that gave Towson a 9-5 advantage.

The Tigers would score the game-ending run on Balk's single to center in the sixth, ending the game due to the run rule.

Against Wagner, McCormick pitched a complete game and struck out a season-high nine batters. She limited the Seahawks to six hits and only one walk to improve her record to 7-2 on the season.

It was her third complete game out of her last four pitching appearances.

McGeehan stayed hot and had two hits and two RBIs, as Jessica South and Delanie Dunham also added two RBIs.

Dunham hit her third homer of the season as part of a six-run third inning that supplied McCormick with all the offense she'd need for the rest of the game.

The Tigers face Quinnipiac at 10 a.m. and face Wagner at 2 p.m. as the teams conclude the Tiger Clash on Sunday.
