Final ResultsDAUFUSKIE ISLAND, S.C. -- Despite shooting the sixth best team score among the field during the final round, the Towson men's golf team could not move up the leaderboard and finished in 10th-place at the Rees Jones Invitational at Haig Point, which concluded on Tuesday afternoon.
The Tigers shot 311 on Tuesday to finish with a 54-hole score of 927 (315-301-311). Kennesaw State (871) narrowly edged East Carolina (874) for the team title.
"Haig Point is one of the tougher courses we have played," said Towson Head Coach
Brian Yaniger. "That was part of the mindset in setting this schedule. We want to play hard courses to prepare our players for the spring championship season. We will continue to use these events as a learning experience."
Tiger newcomer
Hiroyoshi Minakawa, playing in his first event, was Towson's top finisher in 26th-place. Minakawa followed up his even-par 72 yesterday with a 6-over 78 during Tuesday's final round to finish with a 229. One stroke back of Minakawa in a tie for 30th-place was senior
Sam Stewart (78-72-80--230).
Tyler Silberberg carded a 236 (79-80-77), while
Ryan Siegler posted Towson's best round Tuesday with a 76 to end with a 237 (84-77-76).
