TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's swimming and diving program defeated Johns Hopkins 177.5 to 103.5 on Saturday afternoon to improve their record to 8-1 and 3-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).

The Tigers finished the season undefeated at home, winning all five of the dual-meet matchups held in Burdick Pool. Towson grabbed first-place finishes in 12 of the 14 events at the meet.

Junior
Matt McKenney and sophomore
Nick Breschi led the Tiger effort against the Blue Jays, winning four events each. The duo combined with sophomore
Jeremy Liu and senior
Matt Hans in the opening 200-yard medley relay for a time of 1:33.18. They partnered with juniors
Sawyer Martin and
Zach Brech to win the closing 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:07.33.

McKenney grabbed wins in the 100-yard butterfly (50.20) and the 200-yard butterfly (1:50.35). Senior
Matt Lowe (1:52.60) and sophomore
Noah Pritchard (1:52.98) rounded out the top-three for the 200-yard butterfly.

Breschi won the 100-yard backstroke in 58.85 and the 200-yard backstroke in 1:54.01.

Liu had a multiple victory day as he won both the 100-yard breaststroke (56.93) and the 200-yard breastroke (2:04.22).

Hans grabbed a second win in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing the event in 21.35. He also won the 100-yard freestyle in 46.50.

Senior
Philip Forrester had a strong day on the diving boards, finishing the one-meter event with a score of 184.43 and the three-meter with a score of 177.75.

Towson welcomed Special Olympic Maryland athletes from their Fall Swim Clinic to Burdick Pool for the second time this season. The athletes had the chance to swim exhibition races and show the skills they gained during the clinics.

The Tigers also recognized their seniors before the meet as it was the student-athletes final competition at home.

"The senior class that we're graduating is going to be so hard to replace," Head Coach
Pat Mead said. "It's kind of the way that our program is designed; we get a certain level of kid that comes in, they work really hard and develop to some of the best in the CAA and in the country, then we graduate them."

Towson will travel to Bucknell on Saturday, Jan. 31 for the Bison Invite featuring Army, Lafayette, Lehigh and Navy. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
